Pu-erh tea is a special type of Chinese tea with a rich history that dates back more than 2,000 years. Its name comes from the city of Pu’er in the Yunnan region of China. Pu-erh is known for its unique flavor profile and aging process. Centuries ago, when this tea was reserved only for privileged Chinese and was traditionally buried in the ground to develop its characteristic taste, no one could have imagined that it would one day reach an industrial scale. Thanks to tea masters and high demand, this is now possible.
We selected an exceptional, naturally fermented Pu-erh tea, memorable for its dark brown leaves and strong, savory flavor with earthy and woody notes. This Dark Pu-erh, also known as Gongting (Imperial) ripe Pu-erh, was harvested in 2013 and fermented in 2018. Since it belongs to the category of fermented teas, its quality gradually improves over time, developing a richer and more complex taste.
Unlike other teas, Pu-erh matures as it ages, giving its flavor extra depth and nuance. Dark Pu-erh is made from large-leaf tea trees growing in the mountains of Yunnan province. After harvesting, the leaves are sun-dried, heated, and rolled into dense balls or cakes, which are then stored for aging.
The flavor of Dark Pu-erh varies depending on its age and processing method. This aged Pu-erh is rich and complex, with earthy tones and a beautifully balanced profile of deep, aromatic notes.
